Absorbents

Absorbents

Granular and polymer absorbents that solidify aqueous radioactive and hazardous solutions into a stable, transportable solid — meeting Land Disposal Restrictions and the waste acceptance criteria of the receiving facility.

Fluid Tech's absorbents solidify aqueous solutions across a wide range of dissolved-solids levels, converting free liquid into a solid waste form suitable for licensed disposal at permitted facilities.

Absorbent Products

AQUASET® is a granular absorbent used to solidify aqueous solutions with low-to-moderate levels of dissolved solids.

Recommended applications
  • Water, with less than 0.01 M salts or organics
  • Neutralized weak acids
  • Water-miscible organics
  • Slurries — IX resins; filter pre-coat

AQUASET II-G™ is a versatile absorbent that is used to treat aqueous solutions with extremely high levels of dissolved solids.

Recommended applications
  • Neutralized strong acids
  • Neutralized weak acids
  • Water-miscible organics

Fluid Tech's Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP), or sodium polyacrylate, is used to absorb and solidify a wide variety of aqueous waste waters.

Recommended applications
  • Water, with less than 0.01 M salts or organics
  • Neutralized weak acids
  • Water-miscible organics
  • Slurries — IX resins; filter pre-coat

ENVIRO-G® is a granular, sepiolite-based absorbent used to solidify aqueous liquids — and it absorbs oil, diesel, fuel, greases, and hydrocarbons on contact. Fluid Tech supplies it fully outfitted in two grab-and-go spill response kits, the EG-50 Spill Response Kit and the PCB/Oil Kit (FTUTG50), each housed in a weather-resistant rotomolded case.

Recommended applications
  • Oil · Diesel · Fuel
  • Lubricants & Greases
  • Hydraulic Fluid · Transmission Fluid · Radiator Fluids
  • Antifreeze · Solvents · Paint
  • PCB-Contaminated Fluids
  • Organic Liquids
  • Aqueous liquids (solidification)

ENVIRO-Z™ is an all-natural mineral absorbent and neutralizer for corrosive chemical spills — it absorbs on contact and buffers pH, converting D002 corrosive waste spills into dry, landfill-ready solids. Fluid Tech supplies it fully outfitted in the EZ-50 Hazardous Corrosive Spill Kit. Not for use on hydrofluoric acid.

Recommended applications
  • Battery, Muriatic, Sulfuric & Hydrochloric Acids
  • Caustics · Chlorine · Alkaline · Ammonia
  • Detergents · Bleach · Drano · Bases

Advantages

Volumetric efficiency

Volume increase of wastes treated using Fluid Tech products is typically less than 20%.

Leach resistance

Fluid Tech products irreversibly bind radioactive and hazardous constituents through naturally occurring ion-exchange mechanisms.

Physical integrity

Wastes solidified with Fluid Tech products maintain their physical integrity through freeze-thaw conditions.

Adaptability

Fluid Tech products are designed to be stand alone, or used in combination with one another.
